Ravensburger Digital publishes digital version of award-winning board game bestseller as universal app with HD graphics

 

He has been hunted for almost 30 years by Scotland Yard, gaining millions of fans — now Mister X is making the move to iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. On 17 May 2012, Ravensburger Digital is publishing "Scotland Yard", the digital implementation of the multi award-winning board game (including "Game of the Year" 1983) as a universal app for iOS. Whether alone in the role of detective or with up to six players including computer team-mate in multiplayer mode: the exciting pursuit through night-time London moves to the next level — with a revised design of the city and ultra-sharp HD graphics. 

The digital hunt for Mister X – as enthralling as the board game classic

The "Scotland Yard" app in HD graphics follows the same outline as the popular board game: Mister X has gone into hiding in London — and Scotland Yard detectives must track him down. You can be a detective in pursuit of Mister X, or take on the role of agent being pursued through London's nightlife. It's a challenging game of cat and mouse for the detectives because Mister X is constantly moving about by taxi, bus and underground. The tickets he throws away together with clues to his whereabouts at regular intervals are the only leads for the players. 

Issued with a limited number of tickets for bus, train and taxi, the detectives navigate the London night scene in hot pursuit. The fugitive can only be caught by applying super-sleuth skills: correctly reading the trail from Mister X's used tickets while allocating the detectives' own tickets effectively. There's no time to lose! If the detectives haven't caught Mister X within 24 moves, he will have disappeared for ever into the night, in the hustle and bustle of the city … 

Teamwork offers more chances – or slip into the role of Mr X yourself

Strength in numbers: the detectives boost their chances tremendously if they work together. Besides single-player mode,"Scotland Yard" also offers the option of setting off in the manhunt with up to five other players, or even taking on the role of Mr X yourself. This could be with everyone sharing the same device, in a group via a WiFi/Bluetooth connection, or at different locations in online mode with Game Center support – anything is possible. The Chat feature in the Game Center enables the detectives to agree on the best tactics to trap Mister X - even if they are located far apart.
